宽广的博士. (2021年11月24日) –

PGCC-TV, 皇冠体育’s award-winning studio, partnered with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) on November 18 for its annual Student 媒体 Day. The signature event invites middle and high school students interested in media careers to the College to participate in experiential learning, where they are equipped to become the next generation of media professionals. Approximately 500 students participated in this year’s event.

“PGCC-TV is proud to partner with PGCPS to present 媒体 Day,” said Dr. Angela 马修斯, manager of PGCC-TV and part-time faculty member. “Since we couldn’t be in person this year, we developed a curriculum that included a video challenge for students enrolled in media arts classes at their middle school or high school.”

“We work with 老师 to evaluate student video entries and teach students how to anchor a news magazine that showcases their videos. It is our hope that the students who participate in 媒体 Day will consider enrolling in 皇冠体育’s mass comm program, where they can take advantage of our state-of-the-art studios and learn from media professionals who are faculty here,她补充道。.

活动前, 与PGCPS合作, PGCC-TV guided students through a video challenge that required them to research and brainstorm, 编写和编辑一个脚本, 创建拍摄清单, 录制和编辑视频, 日志剪辑, 结合图形, 和更多的.

媒体日期间, students presented their final videos via livestream to their peers, 老师, and 皇冠体育 faculty and staff. This year’s 媒体 Day programming also included a panel discussion led by breakthrough filmmaker and producer Jimmy Jenkins, 还有一个大学博览会.

“What inspired me to be a change in the world was seeing that a lot of kids in the world don’t have role models, and they tend to go down the wrong path without role models,米哈伊说, a 12th- grade student at Frederick Douglass High School who participated in 媒体 Day. He shared that his biggest takeaway from the event was “seeing that you can be a change in the world and be leaders in different ways.”

“PGCC-TV staff is comprised of television producers and K-12 media arts 老师,” explained Dr. 马修斯. “媒体 Day is a perfect opportunity for PGCC-TV staff to actively engage with middle and high school students who have a passion for video production.”

PGCC-TV is an award-winning studio and educational access channel available to more than 750,在马里兰州有1万有线电视用户. The studio has one of the newest and largest high-definition production facilities in the Washington metropolitan area.
